FAA Medical Requirements

Before you begin flight training, a FAA Medical Certificate from an FAA-designated Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) should be obtained.  The process is simple and only takes about a half hour - we’ll take care of the details and make the appointment for you after your introductory lesson.

We will help you locate an AME near your office, place of work etc – whatever is easiest for you.

Feel free to check out this link to the FAA database of AME’s.

The Process is Easy:

  1. Contact the FAA doctor  and schedule an appointment.
  2. Undergo the routine physical examination related to the FAA Medical Certificate you require.
  3. The doctor will give you the medical certificate at the conclusion of the exam.  It's that simple.  The whole thing lasts for about 1 1/2 hour.

The Three Classes of Medical Certificates:

  1. Class 3: is required for both a Private Pilot Certificate and Instrument rating.
  2. Class 2: is required in order to receive a Commercial Pilot's Certificate.
  3. Class 1: is required in order to become an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP).

Heritage Flight Academy will guide you in the process. Call us today at 800/786.9060 or send an e-mail to info@heritageflightacademy.com
