FAA TESTING:
There are two exams that that you will need to pass in order to receive each FAA Certificate and Rating:
FAA Written Test
(FAA Knowledge
Exam) & Flying Test (FAA Practical
Exam)
FAA WRITTEN EXAM
Don’t
get nervous! The FAA written test consists of multiple choice questions and is taken on a computer. It’s a very straight forward exam – if you study you’ll do fine. Heritage Flight Academy will operate the FAA Laser Grade written test center on the west side of Islip, MacArthur Airport.
Written tests now cost $90 each and can be arranged directly through LaserGrade, over the phone with HFA, or on a walk-in basis at the school. See the
FAA Written
Preparation
section for more info on how we will prepare you to take the written.
We guarantee you a PASS!
FAA PRACTICAL EXAM
The practical test is more often referred to as an FAA Check Ride. This is the chance for you to dazzle the examiner with your skills. This is also a very straight forward test. If you study and have fun – you’ll do fine!
This is the last stage of your course. There are two portions you must pass. The oral exam is a complete review of your ground knowledge. The flight is your chance to demonstrate flying proficiency. You will be taken through the maneuvers learned during the course and outlined in the FAR’s and in your syllabus.
Don't be
intimidated! Learning to fly is like anything in life ...
you study it, you practice it,
you're tested on it
- you reap the
benefits!
Once you pass
the check-ride, you’re a pilot! Where will you fly
first?
